In a quiet spot surrounded by olive trees, you will find a little house just for you. This peaceful haven will allow you to take a break and get back to nature. Here, you will be surrounded by the chirping of birds and the scent of olive trees and herbs – the ideal setting to relax and find inspiration.
Casa Bartola is an independent house located in the hamlet of Verne, in the municipality of Stella San Martino, 4 km from Varazze and 17 km from Sassello.
It consists of 2 apartments of about 100 square meters that can accommodate up to 6 beds each.
Its secluded location guarantees complete privacy, inviting you to rediscover the joy of a genuine connection with nature.
We are Chiara and Valentino. After years of working in the catering and hospitality industries, driven by our great passion for the field, we decided to pour our energy and experience into creating a single place that feels like home – a place where we could bring our vision of hospitality to life.
First, we looked for the ideal home to build our family.
Our work took us to Celle Ligure and we focused our research on the hills just behind the town. Exploring the hinterland, we fell in love at first sight with the house in which we live today and which we are gradually renovating. The project slowly took shape but the house turned out to not be completely suitable for the kind of hospitality we had in mind.
Our neighbours – the owners of what is now Casa Bartola – were a friendly elderly couple who were passionate about flowers and plants. They spent their summers dressed in a swimsuits and straw hats, bent over the roses, taking care of their lawn, cutting and raking the grass, hunting for slugs bothering their beloved plants, and fighting against the bamboo roots that infested the lawn.
They were an inspiration for us!
When the opportunity arose, we did everything we could to buy their house. We could already see ourselves in them in the future, passionate and happy to work on the lawn.

Our municipality, Stella, organises many initiatives together with the local operators in the tourism sector. The aim is to offer a full calendar of events all year round, so that you can discover the wonders of our varied area.
In 2023, Varazze was once again awarded the prestigious international recognition Bandiera Blu (‘Blue Flag’), granted by Fee to seaside resorts that meet certain criteria in terms of water quality and services offered.
The Blue Flag is an international award established in 1987, which is given annually in 48 countries around the world to beaches that meet criteria related to sustainable land management. For years, Liguria has been the region that has obtained the highest number of awards for its excellent waters and services.
